Bearwood BMX Birmingham And It's Journey So Far

Now the History of BMXing in Lightwoods Park, Bearwood, Birmingham started from what I believe, was back in the 1980s, with the 1st Generation of local riders. Thats 30+ YEARS Ago, AMAZING i know, infact it's OUT OF THIS WORLD and probably a bit hard to take in, 30+ YEARS YO !!, Now that's Something. The old school riders who are the 2nd Generation would consist of John "The Don Chromeleone" Kenny, Bearwood "The Mear" Tom, Mike "The Magnet" Coley, Dean "Ding Dong" Watson, Brother Swainy, Glen Dutton, Colin "Turbo Boss" Scott, William "Main Man" Wills, Me "Myself" I, Spencer "Z Rims" Weaver, Paul "Redline" Reedy, Greg "Main Man" Johnstone, Simon "Jester" Paton, Dean "Shoe" Taylor, Stuart "Potty" Murray, Karl "Main Man" Jones, John "Chin" Acocks Green. A little introduction into a few of these Brothers I had the priviage to BMX with, The Kenny Chrome is the daddy of whole Bearwood BMX Full Factory Team ;), and has been riding the longest and has skills, then you got The Mear, well let me just say and sum him up, A One Foot scaffold pole modified into a rear peg, Keep your knee's and ankles tucked in at all times, Next is The Magnet, well its all in the name and no not to do with the ladies but with his head and the floor,Oh and One of the Original and First Brakeless BMXers Out Of Bearwood, then it's Ding Dong, this Brother loved his 3/4 shorts and mastered the coping no matter where it was and in a true form he had nothing but major skills, then it's Turbo Boss AKA Mr C, this brother had no concept of time, if you read one of the previous blogs about waiting for hours before a road trip, well it's this brother we was waiting for most of the time, all good still, Then Brother Will is a top dude going, Respect to Will, Then we got Spen Z Rim, this dude is crazy in a clever way, just nuts had some good days BMXing with this brother, Respect To Spen, next up is Redline Reedy who is a top brother and proper fun to be around, Main man Greg has been around a while got the skills on skateboards and BMXing top man, The Jester is the man you need to thank for the "Annekas Challenge" original skatepark at Bearwood and paving the way and setting the foundation back then which got us todays new skatepark, John Chin used to travel in but was a true local never the less, had some fun seesions with john, a little mad and up for a laugh, kind of fitted in perfect with the team LOL. To finish it off is Brother Kenny Black, this guy is full speed ahead no messing and could fool you into thinking he's about to land on the moon with his 1000mph approach, Big Respect To KB. Yeah so these Brothers are the reason Bearwood BMX is still about today, and there's many more that have represented too. But it's the new age of riders who use Bearwood Skatepark to take it into the next Era and keep going from Strength To Strength. Imagine getting these Old boy's to do a show down the Skatepark on the 40th Anniversary Of Bearwood BMX Birmingham in 8 Years time (Laughing). But on a serious note I think that there should be some sort of "No Seriousness Just Have Fun" Jam To celebrate all These years Of Stunting. Time will tell Eh. I'm going to share what i know about the 3rd Generation riders soon, This is where the game changed Noticeably between the 2nd and 3rd Generation. SKILLS Much Peace And Blessings To Each And All.
