Northampton's Radland's Part 1, Introducing Kenny Chrome

Last Night I was with one of the Bearwood BMXs old school Vert Rider and Legend, The One "Don Chromeleone" AKA Kenny Chrome. I was stuck for ideas for this blog. Kenny started telling me some stories about the journey's and session's we used too enjoy down at Northampton's Radlands Indoor Skatepark, Then I start Remembering the times he was talking about. Yes they was special times in our BMXing days and for sure they were great times. The stories Kenny was reminding me of was the pinnacle hours and time of the madness, them days were FUNNY, in a rib cracking way. I'd like to share what I can with you all. These are bits and bobs of what happened spanning the years of traveling to Northampton. First one that needs to be shared is of The One Don Chromeleone when he hit the roof (Crazy). There was a good turnout at Radlands with riders coming from all over to ride the skatepark back then in around the early-mid 1990s. All of The Bearwood riders were there on this particular day, infact I know we all used too travel down in our own cars and meet up as a group down there. Kenny Chrome, this Brother don't need no introductions too be fair, but just too be fair I will share a little something. First you may be wondering why he is called Kenny Chrome AKA Don Chromeleone, well it comes about because Kenny was the owner and a big fan of Chrome BMXs throughout his riding year's and still is to this day, he is a tough cookie too crack when you try and get the information, tips and secrets of a Clean Bike. No Joke he had the most Cleanest Bikes known to man, on a summers day you could be permanently blinded if you were brave enough too ever look direct at his bike, and he would let you know if your bike needed a wash down because it wasn't passing the test,DANGER. Don Chromeleone AKA Dad, It all came about because he is the oldest and wisest in the team, Head of the outfit. With This Bearwood Team he had his hands full. Anyway, So we are all down at Radlands riding the day away in our own mannerism, It has changed layouts quite a bit over the years, but this layout in particular was where it had a Quarter pipe at one end, which was down next to the half pipe, and then a little kind of drive way grind box? after that was a fun box which was of a good size, and then a 6ft or 7ft Quarter pipe up against the double doors which lead out onto the car park. These doors where quite wide and of a good height, Let's say you could drive an artic lorry through these doors as they were of that size. You had a quarter pipe placed in between the walls that made up the doorway. I now remember Kenny Chrome do a 6ft+ air out of the Quarter Pipe which was next to the vert ramp, hop the drive way, blast over the fun box in a nice smooth manner, Then just (BLAST) hit the Quarter Pipe (By The Doors) so fast that he just launched out the top and just went UP, UP, And UP And UP And UP, until he hits the top of the doorway wall which is away up above, and stops dead in his tracks, and plummets to earth. That air was Real and It was HIGH, truthfully I thought he styled and blagged it and rode away like in a True Bearwood Sketchy Manner, but listening to Chrome last night it turned out that he went over the bars and head butted the floor and managed to get himself a black eye. The People Were In Shock, No Helmet, No Elbow or Knee Pads Either just T Shirts And Vision Shorts. Big Respect To Don Chromeleone and he got some skills. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SAFETY GEAR WHEN STUNTING.
